Salacia prinoides herb
The genus salacia includes many small shrubs or trees found often in India. In Ayurvedic herbal medicine, a few of these species are used in medicine, mostly for blood sugar control. As of 2011, no human studies with salacia prinoides could be found.

To study the chemical constituents of Salacia prinoides. The chemical
constituents were isolated and purified with various column chrmoatography and
the structures were elucidated by chemical evidence and spectral analysis. :
Sixteen compounds, including seven triterpenes : lupeol, Lupendiol,
30-Hydorxylupenone, 3, 22-dioxo-29-normoretane, Ursolid acid, beta-Sitosterol,
beta-Daucosterol; Four flavanoids: Quercetin, Quercet-in-3', 4'-dimethylether,
Isorhamnetin, Kaempferol methylether; Three Phenolic acids:
Gallic acid, Ethyl gallate, Egallic acid; Two Fatty series: Hentriacontanol, Hentriacontan-12-ol
were obtained from the titled plant.
